The Christmas Party ....aahh, Roger's Christmas cake (hopefully) plus other goodies, wine (if you are so inclined) otherwise grape juice.
Prior to the celebrations, bring along any humorous video clips that you feel other members would appreciate and show them on the club's laptop.
This is too good an evening to miss so hope to see you all there.

Do you have any public domain or open source software that you particularly like using?
If so, bring it along to the meeting on Wednesday and tell everyone why you like it so much.

Wgtn Meeting for Wednesday, 15 Octoer 2008
This month's meeting should prove to be a most interesting affair. Roger and Richard are going to carry out a comparison between Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Is the latter as bad as a lot of people think or, to put it another way, if Windows XP really better?
Come along and judge for yourself as the two experts put the operating systems through their paces, running various programs via each one.

Hutt Meeting for Monday, October 13, 2008
Come along to Moera and see a Biography series DVD about Bill Gates -- his early life and family, his road to Microsoft and what he is currently doing away from the company.
This is excellent viewing, whether you love -- or loathe -- the man.

Hutt Meeting Monday 8 September 2008
Monday's Hutt meeting will deal mainly with e-books, and will include a discussion about the current state of e-books, software and hardware. There will be toys to play with, including an e-ink reader.
There have recently been several developments around e-books and e-reading, including new devices coming to NZ soon. E-reading may not be something that many of our members do at present, but more will very likely read some books electronically in the near future.
If time permits, there may also be a brief demonstration of Google's new web browser (Chrome) as well as the recently updated Picasa 3.
See you there.

Wellington meeting for 17 Sept 2008
Alan Royal will discuss the merits of using the free Microsoft Photo Story 3 which, in his own words, will "create slideshows using your digital photos. With a single click, you can touch-up, crop, or rotate pictures. Add stunning special effects, soundtracks, and your own voice narration to your photo stories. Then, personalize them with titles and captions. Small file sizes make it easy to send your photo stories in an e-mail. Watch them on your TV, a computer, or a Windows Mobile–based portable device."
This sounds like an incredible piece of software so come along, bring your friends and hear Alan wax lyrical about it.

Wgtn meeting for 20 August, 2008
Arthur Harris is going to repeat the Powerpoint presentation he gave out at Moera last month.
He will demonstrate what happens inside a computer when a program is running.
Not only is this an excellent guide to furthering one's understanding of how a computer works, it will also provide an excellent example of just how powerful Powerpoint is and what it is capable of.
Don't miss the meeting this coming Wednesday at St Giles.

Wellington Meeting for 16 July, 2008
It is AGM time again. As everyone associated with the running of the club is prepared to stand for committee nomination again, you don't have to be worried about finding yourself landed with a job!
After the formalities are over, David Edwards will repeat the talk he recently gave at a Hutt meeting on Windows slipstreaming.
If you don't know what it is all about, come along on Wednesday and find out.

Hutt Meeting for 14 July, 2008
Arthur Harris has been creating a Powerpoint graphical presentation that illustrates what happens inside a computer when a program is running. There are a number of screens that demonstrate the processes involved.
He has put a lot of work into it and the results look very impressive indeed.
For those not familiar with such matters, come along to Moera on Monday evening and hear Arthur talk about it.

Wellington Meeting for May, 2008
Those who attended the Hutt meeting in April when Jim Oliver discussed BartPE will no doubt be pleased to know that Jim is going to talk about the same subject at the Wellington meeting on 21 May.
It was, by all accounts, a fascinating evening at Moera.
For those who don’t know what BartPE is all about, I suggest you read the article in the April MegaByte on pages 8 and 9 then come along to St Giles and hear Jim talk about it. It could even be the answer to some of your Windows problems.
