Wgtn meeting, Wed. 16 Dec. 2015

Not surprisingly, this will be the last meeting for the year. As in previous years, there will be both food and drink (of the non-alcoholic variety) available to commemorate another successful year for the club. There will also be a talk about YouTube and a visit to the website to look at interesting and/or amusing topics.

Even if you haven't been able to attend the regular meetings throughout the year, do come along to this special one. As usual, it's at 39 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn with a starting time of 7:30 pm.

Wgtn meeting, Wed. 18 Nov. 2015

While club members tend to favour Windows operating systems - Linux and the occasional OS/2 users notwithstanding - we should try to keep an open mind about other systems so, in an attempt to redress the balance, Richard Elam is going to talk about the Apple iPad tablet - what it can do, applications that are available for it  and how it can relate to other non-Apple operating systems.

Richard has owned an iPad3 for some time now and loves it, so this should be an absorbing evening.

As usual, the meeting will be in the basement under Ron Oliver's house at 39 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn, starting at 7:30 pm.

This month, Roger is going to talk about photo and graphics editing software, so it you do a lot of work editing photos this should be of considerable interest to you.

As usual, we meet in the basement of Ron Oliver's house at 39 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, starting time of 7:30pm.

It is becoming increasing difficult to think of new topics for discussion at the monthly meetings so the committee decided on a brain's trust for this month, as it has been some time since we've had one.
However, member John Thomson has been in touch and mentioned that (a) he has a laptop running Windows 10 and would be happy to talk about it and (b) he has recently purchased a $60.00 car cam, of which he is apparently very impressed.
This sounds as if it might be a very interesting evening so don't forget that the meetings are now being held at 39 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, in the basement under Ron Oliver's house, starting time 7:30 pm.

At the Wellington meeting this month, Roger is going to talk about internet searching, with particular emphasis on advanced searching techniques.

If you've been frustrated at the results you've obtained from searches, it could be the way you're going about it. Come along to the meeting and discover more productive solutions.

It's AGM time again and, to be brutally frank, we need some new blood on the committee. People with new ideas to put forward for interesting meetings.

If you feel you can contribute to the running of the club, put yourself forward to join the committee.

After general business, Roger will show some free software that can be download from the Internet. If you have any similar software, bring it along and demonstrate it.

This meeting is going to consist of a games evening, with Minecraft, Monuments Valley and Jet Set Willy as the highlights. Roger will be in charge of proceedings.

If you have any games you would like to demonstrate don't hesitate to bring them along and show us why you like them.

Roger is going to talk about writing Visual Basic macros in programs like Excel. This will be of interest to those members who wish to get a little more out of their spreadsheet calculations.

Microsoft's next operating system, Windows 10,  is due out sometime in June.

There was a reason for the company skipping 'Nine' but I can't remember what it was.

Roger has been trialling an advanced copy of 'Ten' and will discuss its merits (?) at the meeting this Wednesday.

For those members who have been using an earlier version of Windows and been experiencing some issues with it, here is the ideal opportunity to find out if 'Ten' is the answer to all your prayers.

Wgtn Meeting, Wed. 18 February 2015

Firstly, a Happy New Year to all NZPCA members and welcome to news about the first meeting of the year. Please remember that the club now meets in the basement at Ron Oliver's house located at 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.

John Thomson has offered to talk about and demonstrate Chromecast. For those unfamiliar with it, Chromecast was developed by Google and is a digital media player in the form of an 72 mm HDMI dongle. It plays audio/visual content on a high definition display by directly streaming it via Wi-Fi from either the Internet or a local network.

This should be a really interesting talk so I hope to see you at Brooklyn before 7:30 pm.
