The final meeting of the year will be a light-hearted affair Those who decide to attend are asked to bring along humorous YouTube videos - or have their associated addresses - so we can all have a bit of a giggle.
There will be some Christmas cake and other goodies, as well as some non-alcoholic beverages so do make an effort to come along for the evening.
The starting time is unchanged: 7.30 pm at Ron Oliver's, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.

Wgtn meeting, Wed 21 Nov 2018
This month's meeting will involve the application Teamviewer. Originally designed to permit remote control and sharing between desktop computers, it also encompasses file transferring and conferencing. It may also be used to assist with diagnostics.
Roger is very familiar with the software so do come along to the meeting and hear him explain its operation in detail.
As always, the meeting is in Ron Oliver's home basement at 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, starting at 7:30pm, so I hope to see you there.

Wgtn meeting Wed 17 Oct 2018
By a strange coincidence, both Roger and Richard are going to be in Australia visiting family when we have our next meeting, so it seemed like an opportunity to have another brain's trust, If you have any computer problems that you would like to discuss, come along and share them with us and we will attempt to banish all those computer ills for you.
In addition, there may be an opportunity to visit YouTube and show videos that are associated with computing, so if you have any that you would like to see, and which you think may be of general interest to members, come along to the meeting and tell us about them.
Meeting begins at 7.30 pm in the basement at Ron Oliver's home, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.

Wgtn meeting, Wed 19 Sept 2018
Do you have trouble remembering passwords - particularly those associated with sites that you only visit occasionally?
If the answer is yes, now is the time to find out how to resolve that issue by attending this month's meeting, where the discussion will be about password management software.
As always, the meeting will be held in the basement at Ron Oliver's home, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, starting time 7:30 pm

Wgtn meeting, Wed. 15 August 2018
Roger is going to talk about a browser that I have to confess I had never heard of before. It's called "Epic" and it apparently has some great security features so I am very interested in finding out more about it.
He is also going to discus the state of the internet in the US. It seems that all is by no means well over there - I have to confess that of all places I would have expected it to be in ruddy health - so that's aother topic of considerable interest.
I hope to see more of you at our meetings, as the numbers present - apart from the committee members who always turn up - has dropped to a new low. If you can't make it to Brooklyn, remember that we do have Skype now operating - John Foster uses it and is a regular attender, living as he does over in the Wairarapa at Carterton. In fact, he hasn't missed a meeting so far this year. Why not try it out?. You will need a webcam and the software installed on your computer, but it's free

Wgtn meeting, Wed. 18 July 2018
It's hard to believe but it's time for the club's AGM again. Where has that 12 months gone since the previous one? If there is anyone who feels he/she could add some well-needed new ideas to the club's activities we would love to see you on the committee.
Richard will then discus subscription-based streaming video, via Netflix, and how to download videos from YouTube, a topic I think he has talked about before.

Wgtn meeting, Wed. 20 June 2018
I missed the meeting last month due to a prior engagement so I did not realise that the talk about torrents, which was one of the topics on the agenda, did not actually take place. It seems that the discussion on choosing what sort of computer to buy, whether it be first time around or when upgrading, went on for considerable longer than expected.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how this month's meeting will pan out. It will definitely be on torrents, but Roger is away in the UK at present and is not due back until near the end of the month. Richard and Arthur were supposed to be heading the discussion, but I now know that Richard is not going to stay for the meeting, as members of his family are here for a visit from overseas.
There will still be a meeting, however, and it will be at Ron Oliver's, 39 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, starting at 7:30 pm.

Wgtn meeting, Wed. 16 May 2018
I seem to have been extremely lax with my postings about meetings this year and I must apologise for that.
This month's meeting - which, sadly, I will not be attending due to another commitment - will cover two topics: Roger will talk about Torrents and how one can get involved, while Richard will discuss what to look for when considering buying a new computer. A member has specifically requested that this be discussed as she is contemplating buying a new PC.
As always, the meeting will be held at Brooklyn, in the basement at Ron Oliver's home, 39 Washington Avenue, starting time 7:30 pm.
